چکیده
Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a worldwide chronic inflammatory lung disease, and influenza A virus (IAV) infection common cause of acute exacerbations COPD (AECOPD). Therefore, targeting viral infections represents promising strategy to prevent the occurrence development flare ups in AECOPD. Jianpiyifei II (JPYFII) traditional herbal medicine used China treat patients with COPD, its clinical indications are not well understood. However, investigation anti-inflammatory effects underlying mechanism using an animal model smoking have been reported previous study by our group. In addition, some included herbs, such as Radix astragali aupleuri, were exhibit antiviral effects. aim present was investigate whether JPYFII formulation relieved inflammation clearing IAV mouse that exposed cigarette smoke experimentally. treatment during exposure significantly reduced number cells observed bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), expression proinflammatory cytokines, chemokines, superoxide production, load IAV-infected smoke-exposed mice. alone did reduce BALF or Il-6, Tnf-a, Il-1β. The results demonstrated exerted effect exacerbation (CS)-exposed mice infected IAV. Our suggested could potentially be AECOPD associated infection.

Influenza Virus-Induced Lung Inflammation Was Modulated by Cigarette Smoke Exposure in Mice
Although smokers have increased susceptibility and severity of seasonal influenza virus infection, there is no report about the risk of 2009 pandemic H1N1 (pdmH1N1) or avian H9N2 (H9N2/G1) virus infection in smokers. In our study, we used mouse model to investigate the effect of cigarette smoke on pdmH1N1 or H9N2 virus infection. Mice were exposed to cigarette smoke for 21 days and then infecte...
متن کاملApocynin and ebselen reduce influenza A virus-induced lung inflammation in cigarette smoke-exposed mice
Influenza A virus (IAV) infections are a common cause of acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Oxidative stress is increased in COPD, IAV-induced lung inflammation and AECOPD. Therefore, we investigated whether targeting oxidative stress with the Nox2 oxidase inhibitors and ROS scavengers, apocynin and ebselen could ameliorate lung inflammation in a mouse model ...
متن کاملTime course of cigarette smoke-induced pulmonary inflammation in mice.
Inflammation of the airways and lung parenchyma plays a major role in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In the present study a murine model of tobacco smoke-induced emphysema was used to investigate the time course of airway and pulmonary inflammatory response, with a special emphasis on pulmonary dendritic cell (DC) populations. Groups of mice were exposed to either ci...
متن کاملTiotropium Attenuates Virus-Induced Pulmonary Inflammation in Cigarette Smoke–Exposed Mice
Viral infections trigger exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and tiotropium, a M3 receptor antagonist, reduces exacerbations in patients by unknown mechanisms. In this report, we investigated whether tiotropium has anti-inflammatory effects in mice exposed to cigarette smoke (CS) and infected with influenza virus A/PR/8/34 (H1N1) or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) a...
متن کاملExacerbation of cigarette smoke-induced pulmonary inflammation by Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxin B in mice
BACKGROUND Cigarette smoke (CS) is a major risk factor for the development of COPD. CS exposure is associated with an increased risk of bacterial colonization and respiratory tract infection, because of suppressed antibacterial activities of the immune system and delayed clearance of microbial agents from the lungs. Colonization with Staphylococcus aureus results in release of virulent enteroto...
